Canadian Employment Contracts

An employment contract is a legal document that outlines the minimum guidelines for working in Canada. The conditions set out in the employment contracts of migrant workers can vary according to the stream of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, the provincial Employment Standards, and the type of job.

Note: The SAWP has two standard, mandatory contracts. One with the Government of Mexico and one with the participating Caribbean countries. These contracts cannot be altered without formal permission from both the Canadian and Mexican government/Governments of participating Caribbean countries. The contract must be signed by both the employer and the worker and the government agent on behalf of the Government of Mexico/Governments of participating Caribbean countries.
