Migrant Worker Support Network

The Migrant Worker Support Network (MWSN) is comprised of key stakeholders who are committed to working collaboratively on issues relating to migrant workers’ rights and their protection.

The mandate of the MWSN is to enhance the protection of migrant workers by providing resources, to those who support them, to learn about, understand, and support migrant workers in exercising their rights while in Canada as well as to support employers understand the requirements and conditions of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.

The primary goals of the MWSN are to:

  • Provide consistent and accurate information to migrant workers on their rights and protections while in Canada;

  • Provide consistent and accurate information to employers regarding migrant workers’ rights and the protection of migrant workers while in Canada;

  • Strengthen the relationships between federal/provincial/territorial and community organizations, employers and employer representatives, employees and employee representatives, settlement agencies and individuals that work in the area of migrant worker protections and available services/resources;

  • Build migrant workers’ trust in a wide variety of organizations, including federal and provincial/territorial governments;

  • Promote collaboration and information exchange in the area of migrant worker protection;

  • Identify information and service gaps for supporting migrant workers; and

  • Provide advice and guidance to Network partners on issues and service consistency relating to the protection of migrant workers through collaboration with other Network partners.
