SUMMARY:Webinar: Conflict Resolution Strategies for Migrant Worker Support Organizations
DESCRIPTION:Conflict in the workplace is a common occurrence. For migrant workers there are added factors such as language barriers\, cultural differences and power struggles impacting relationships among migrant workers and with their supervisors/employers. The pandemic has also heightened the situation. There are fewer social events and activities for relaxation due to COVID-19\, resulting in less outlets for workers to destress causing emotions to boil over. How conflicts are resolved has a huge impact on the worker and the culture of the workplace. It’s important for support workers to have greater understanding of conflict resolution techniques to support workers when conflict arises in their workplace.\n\nIn this webinar we will examine:\n\n\nKey terms and principles of conflict resolution\nTypes of workplace conflict including worker and supervisor conflict and co-worker conflict\nConflict resolution strategies\nRecommendations of techniques for resolving conflict for migrant workers in the workplace\n\n\n\n\nEvent Details: \n\n\n\nWebinar: Conflict Resolution Strategies for Migrant Worker Support Organizations\n\nDate: November 29\, 2021\n\n\nTime: 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. PST / 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. EST\n\n\nLocation: Online | You will receive the web link via email after registering\n\n\nPresenter: \n\nCamille Dumond\, MA Counselling Psychology\, MEd Conflict Facilitation – Dignity Facilitation\n\n\nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:Webinar: Supporting Migrant Workers Experiencing Domestic Violence
DESCRIPTION:Domestic violence is prevalent in all communities and COVID-19 has amplified the incidence of such abuses. With quarantine restrictions\, precarious employment\, and fewer supports available due to the pandemic\, domestic abuses have been on the rise. Migrant workers face additional vulnerabilities in accessing supports due to lack of knowledge or availability of service\, understanding of the law\, language barriers and the cultural differences that may dictate their course of action in such abuses. Addressing the prevalence\, impact\, and best practices in responding to domestic violence can attribute to better supports for migrant workers.\n\nIn this webinar on domestic violence in migrant worker communities\, we will examine:\n\nKey terms and concepts of domestic violence including forms of domestic violence\, risk factors and abusive relationship cycles\nImpacts and risk factors of domestic violence on migrant workers\nStrategies for responding to domestic violence for migrant workers\nOffering support services including action plans\, resources and referrals\n\n\n\nEvent Details: \n\n\n\nWebinar: Supporting Migrant Workers Experiencing Domestic Violence\n\nDate: November 16\, 2021\n\n\nTime: 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. PST / 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. EST\n\n\nLocation: Online | You will receive the web link via email after registering\n\n\nPresenters: \n\n\nKyla Fair\, HR Policy & Communications Specialist\, Highline Mushrooms\n\nRosa Elena Arteaga\, Director of Clinical Practice and Direct Services\, Battered Women’s Support Services\n\n\n\nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:Workshop: Self-Care and Collective Care in Our Work to Support Migrant Workers
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 has created challenges in supporting migrant workers in ways that we couldn’t have imagined months ago. The pandemic has disrupted much of our lives and ways of working- bringing disconnection and fear.\n\nResisting burnout in this moment means we need to go deeper than the “self-care” we are normally prescribed and look at community collective care and our mental wellness through considering cultural\, spiritual\, relational and community-based ways to collectively support ourselves and our communities.\n\nHow do we support migrant workers who are in precarious work and whose health is at risk? How do we respond to isolation and fear? How do we embrace collective care for ourselves as workers so we can keep the care of migrant workers at the heart of our work? We will look at staying with connection\, doing justice and community collective care as acts of resistance and believed-in-hope in this work.\n\nThe same workshop will be held on both dates.
Please ensure that you only register for one workshop as space is limited. \n\n\nEvent Details & Registration\n\n\n\nDate and time: \n\nTuesday\, February 2nd\, 2021\,9AM -12 PM\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR WORKSHOP 4\n\n\n\n\nLocation: Zoom | You will receive more details & the web link via e-mail after registering\n\n(Please note that this workshop will not be recorded or available for later viewing)\n\n\n\nPresenter: \n\nVikki Reynolds PhD RCC is an activist/therapist from Vancouver\, Canada\, who works to bridge the worlds of social justice activism and therapy.
